HISTORY

The Wiltshire Malayalee Association (WMA) has a rich history that dates back to the early 2000s. It all began in the year 2003 in Swindon. At that time, a small group of families, originally hailing from the state of Kerala in India, were living in Swindon had a strong sense of enthusiasm and community spirit. They would often come together on special occasions, particularly during the festival of Onam, a major cultural event celebrated by Malayalees. These gatherings provided an opportunity for the families to connect, share traditions, and enjoy the festivities together. As time passed, more and more Malayalee families in the area became aware of these gatherings and began joining in, their collective need for a formal organization, the community decided to establish an association.
